• 1 Think & Link 2013 Capacity-Building Seminar

    ISSP representatives participated in The Capacity Building Seminar “Strengthening the Role of Evidence-Based Policy in the Western Balkans” for the selected organisations of the Think and Link – Regional Policy Programme 2013, that was held in Becici, Budva-Montenegro in the period between 10-12 May, 2013. The seminar is part of the Think and Link – Regional Policy Programme and is designed to foster different debates on the challenges, costs and opportunities of EU member-state building of the Western Balkans countries, by supporting and promoting inclusive and evidence-based policy making.

  • 2 Research day at University of Donja Gorica (UDG)

    ISSP representatives took part in the Research day at University of Donja Gorica on 04.04.2013. The event was organized by UDG jointly with MONSTAT and DAMAR and attracted a number of researchers and research institutions. Ms. Jadranka Kaludjerovic, ISSP Program Director presented the research work done at ISSP, emphasizing  the challenges of modern research.

  • 3 ˝Siguran Kompas˝ recognition for 2012

    ISSP won a recognition »SIGURAN KOMPAS« for the year of 2012, which is awarded each year by ALFA center for the outstanding contribution in activities and projects that promote the idea of Euro-Atlantism in Montenegro.

  • 4 International Programme on Capacity Building of BMO Functionaries

    Representative of Institute for strategic studies and prognoses participated at  International Programme on Capacity Building of BMO Functionaries (7-13 January 2013) which has been conducted by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) at Ahmedabad, India with the support of the Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), Government of Gujarat. During the attendance of Vibrant Gujarat Forum the Memorandum of understanding among ISSP and EDU is signed, regarding the improvement of cooperation in the field of cluster development in both countries.

  • 5 Conference in Honor of Svetozar Pejovich

    ISSP representatives participated at the Conference in Honor of Svetozar Pejovich entitled “Law, Rules and Economic Performance”  organized by Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade.

The Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses (ISSP) established by Professor Veselin Vukotic, with some his young colleagues, in 1997, is the first independent economic institute in Montenegro. It has a team of 15 full-time researchers and also collaborates with a wide network of experts, business people, economists and statisticians in the country and abroad. In tandem with government representatives and other decision-makers, the Institute works to advocate for a public policy environment where entrepreneurship can thrive.

Within this project twelve think tanks from the Western Balkans, including ISSP, are financially supported to perform research on the proposed topic, different for each programme year. In addition, the programme provides capacity building in the form of seminars offered to the members of the chosen think tanks. ISSP is 10% project partner in VIBE project, which is done jointly with several project partners from across the region, starting from January 2013. VIBE addresses the challenge of developing the innovation and entrepreneurship system across the South East Europe by enabling private investment into innovative entrepreneurial companies in partnership with smart public initiatives and investment. VIBE offers an transnational integrated approach, providing efficient support to both investors, policy makers and agencies and of course high-growth entrepreneurs across the Regions.

Starting from December 2012, ISSP is implementing the two-year project “The new role of Civil Sector Organizations (CSOs) in the implementation and monitoring of public policy at the local level”, jointly with CASE Institute from Poland and Center for European Education from Podgorica. The goal of this project, financed by European Commission, is strengthening the role of CSOs and local governments  in the implementation and monitoring of Strategic  development plans at local level. The project is being conducted in 10 Montenegrin municipalities: Mojkovac, Kolašin, Plav, Danilovgrad, Žabljak, Bijelo Polje, Cetinje, Andrijevica, Berane i Tivat.

ISSP representatives participated at the XVII regional Milocer Development Forum, organized  by Association of Economists and Managers of Montenegro in cooperation with International Chairmen’s Forum, United Kingdom. The Forum was held September 10-12, 2012 in Hotel „Maestral“, Przno, Montenegro. The topic of this year’s Forum was: Green economy and economic growth. MISES Seminar is event organized by Institute Bruno Leoni at Sestri Levante in October each year with the aim to discuses different economic issues among students, researchers and scholars of free market orientation. The general theme discussed this year is: Failure: Why We Need It. The conference feature original contributions on the themes of failure and bankruptcy—either in the business and governmental arena—and how it is a necessary and ultimately beneficial feature of a free market and a free society. Ms. Jadranka Kaludjerovic, program director and Ms. Maja Drakic, ISSP senior analysts participated in this event.
